Aurora/Omaha, Nebraska.

*we played in Laramie before Nebraska but right now I only have digital images from there so that will wait.We played in a really lovely coffee shop with nice baristas, though!

// familiar, home away from home, small-town, history, father, relatives, clean colors, wood, our blood, helpful, fields upon fields of long, swaying corn, generous, sleeping in a real bed, comfort, noticing the similarities, half comedian half musician, last show of the tour, exhausted and worn but happy, overwhelming happiness and appreciation, late dinners and hearty breakfasts, family trees, flat nebraska, from one family to another.

My (and my sister's) time in Nebraska was especially special because we stayed with relatives (in two separate towns) who we rarely get to see. It was so nice and different to be able to spend time with our aunts, uncles and cousins. Seriously so heartwarming, and their generosity and helpfulness made me so appreciative of them and having had the chance to spend some time with them. I get real choked up just thinking about it, we're both so lucky to be related to such amazing folks.
(I have no 35mm images from Omaha, polaroids & digital & eventually 120 will follow)

Yellowstone/Grand Teton National Park, Wyoming.

// mind-blowing beauty, natural, running around like children, gasping, geysers spraying from the ground, walking through clouds, trees, pissing off cliffs, frolicking around red-woods, so much green and forestry, tiny specs of humans within vast spaces of woods and waterfalls, watching the sun set behind the geysers, being in such an amazing and beautiful spot right then and there (in a spot that would forever live on in my memory through a photo or two), being unable to grasp the natural beauty then and now, mosquito filled afternoons, j's by the water, knee-deep in cold cold water, be beary aware, staying in a lodge for free when others were paying thousands, secret travelers, outsiders, melting, dorms, familiar faces, good grins and warm eyes, goodbye society, bundled up, isolated, below blankets of stars, laying and feeling the water lap in waves around me, existentialist freakouts, seeing the mountains outlined in a thin line of light, we are one.

 (leaving Montana:)

Yellowstone National Park:

we spotted a Maurizio Amore in the wild!

Grand Teton National Park:

Missoula, Montana.

// long drives, vast open spaces, dust, mountains on the border, purple dusk, shades of green, ritzville, middle-of-nowhere, disorientation, small towns, gold, yellow, light, funny hotels, funny strangers, playing in the water, sun-gazing, watching the sunset behind the train tracks by the mountains, good morals and ideas, lavish green, the most colorful sunset in so long, standing around by myself just staring, long nights, friendly strangers, awesome supermarkets, breakfast shopping, coffee in the morning, heat heat heat.

On our trip to Missoula, driving through eastern Washington was kind of eerie and just so vast and dusty (in a beautiful way). It was kind of all in-the-middle-of-nowhere I remember falling asleep and waking up to the car parking, I had no clue where we were and didn't really care to ask so I just followed the gang inside this little shopping center. I just remember being so completely disoriented (happily) and giggly.Idaho was also just a small sliver of land, we stopped to play in the water and let our limbs stretch for a bit.

ritzville, one and only motel we stayed in the entire trip!

i couldn't help but stare at that heart-meltingly cute bare headed child on the left :')

Olympia, WA

// walking forty-five minutes to a show the night of our first arrival, carnivals, we were strangers but that's okay, submerging yourself into the unknown, chocolate croissants, coffee, book shops, wandering aimlessly, bike rides, chocolate croissant obsession, food co-op, food trips, river-swimin', meeting so many new friends, house shows, the way everything felt different in the best way, acceptance, kind hearted, torn posters plastering walls, remnants of others, in the morning and afternoon and all the time, morning dresses, morning cigarettes on a damp patio, black garfield, hard wood floors, couches, tip-toeing, playing in the water, avocados, hearty breakfasts, upset stomachs, good intentions, over-stepping, epiphanies  everywhere, lack of self-consciousness, happy, days spent doing nothing, meeting other people who give you a lot of hope for humans, cute decorations, picnics on front lawns, plays in the woods, evening enchantment, childish curiosities, helping hands, sly grins and smirks, colors, dancing light, always something fun, caring, green.

*I had such a damn amazing time in Olympia, i met soo many wonderfully talented, goodhearted folks (that I was usually just to shy to say much to) and it felt so good to be surrounded by them. I have never felt such a lack of self-consciousness and acceptance from a community of once-strangers. I think most of the NW has that effect on people.

*IMPORTANT NOTE: the house pictured in the last seven images is as of this past Monday gone. It was caught on fire and everything was lost (these guys had so many valuables and gems) - they all made it out a-okay thankfully but at this point they are accepting donations for things they might need, click through here to give a helping hand!
